Shares in Asia's developed stock markets dipped and the dollar struggled at 16-month lows on Friday as disappointing US data and a likely pickup in Chinese inflation gave market players an excuse to take profits after a recent sharp rally.

At 7: 52 am (IST), Asian markets were trading mixed. China's Shanghai Composite was up 0.56% or 17.02 points at 3,059.65. Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.87% or 209.30 points at 24,223.30. Japan's Nikkei was down 0.43% or 41.69 points at 9,612.23. Singapore's Straits Times was up 0.16% or 5.09 points at 3,164.01.

Oil continued its rise on the back of a falling dollar and reports that Saudi Arabia has cut production this month. The drop in Libyan crude output had pushed the biggest oil producer to produce 9 million barrels per day to offset the shortfall.

Indian ADRs ended mixed on Thursday. In the telecom space, Tata Communication was up 0.09% at $ 11.33 while MTNL was down 0.91% at $ 2.18. In the banking space, HDFC Bank was down 0.71% at $ 172.58 and ICICI Bank was down 0.5% at $ 50.

Nifty Open Interest PCR was up at 1.47 versus 1.30. Nifty Futures added 17 lakh shares in OI and ended at 26.6 points premium versus 18 points.

The US stocks closed mixed after another choppy, low volume session, as the broader market staged a late afternoon rally.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended up 14 points at 12,285, after seeing recovery of 122 points from day's low of 12,163.
