X has blocked approximately 3,500 pieces of objectionable content and permanently deleted over 600 accounts that were found to be generating or sharing non-consensual obscene material, sources said.
This step comes amid heightened scrutiny by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) over the misuse of the platform’s AI tool Grok.
Moneycontrol had earlier reported that the government had sent a second notice to X after it was dissatisfied with the platform’s response to the first notice.
On January 2, the government sent a official notice after users were found misusing X’s AI platform Grok to generate non consensual obscene images.
Now, sources say, X has pledged to ensure that obscene imagery will not be permitted on its platform, aligning its operations with Indian legal standards.
