Rekha Gupta took oath as the Delhi’s ninth Chief Minister in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries at Ramlila Maidan ceremony on Thursday. She is the fourth woman Chief Minister of National Capital.
The 50-year-old is a first time MLA from Shalimar Bagh. Along with Gupta, six other BJP MLAs – Kapil Mishra, Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pankaj Singh, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Ashish Sood – took oath as Cabinet ministers. Gupta succeeds Atishi, the AAP MLA who defeated Ramesh Singh Bidhuri from Kalkaji.
Rekha Gupta is married to Shalimar Bagh businessman Manish Gupta and has two children. Manish Gupta is a trader. As per Rekha Gupta’s poll affidavit, Manish Gupta’s firm is named Nikunj Enterprise. He is also associated in insurance business. As per the Economic Times, Manish Gupta is associated with Kotak Life Insurance. Rekha Gupta has two children. Elder daughter is named Harshita, who is working in family business and younger son Nikunj is studying.

Hailing from Haryana's Julana, Rekha Gupta has been associated with the RSS since early days. Her political journey began in 1996 when she won the DUSU polls and became the president of the students' body. She joined BJP in 2002. In 2007, she became BJP councilor.
