Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi broke down as she reacted to Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Manish Sisodia in the corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.
After the Supreme Court's verdict, Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, is set to walk out of jail after over 17 months.
"Manish Sisodia was framed in a false case and sent to jail for 17 months," Atishi said at an event in Delhi's Dwarka.

"Today, when Manish Sisodia has been granted bail, the inauguration of a school, foundation of which was laid by him, is happening. Why was Manish Sisodia put in jail? He was put in jail because he was giving good education to poor children of Delhi," she said.
Atishi further stated that Sisodia was put in jail because he was such a Deputy CM and education minister who gave 25 per cent of the Delhi Budget to children of Delhi.
Her remarks came shortly after Supreme Court's verdict granting bail to AAP leader Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy case.
A bench of justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan said Sisodia has been in custody for 17 months and trial has not yet commenced, depriving him of the right to speedy trial. The bench said it would be a travesty of justice to relegate him to the trial court for seeking bail in these cases.
The top court said it is high time that the trial courts and high courts recognise that the principle of bail is a rule and jail is an exception.
It directed that Sisodia be released on bail on a personal bond of Rs 10 lakh with two sureties of the like amount.
