Ahead of the Independence day celebrations across the country, the Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested Rizwan Ali, a key member of the Pune Islamic State (ISIS) module.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had declared a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on him over his involvement in terror activities. Ali is resident of Daryaganj in Delhi.

"Yesterday secret information about one Rizwan Ali, a terrorist wanted by NIA, was received and he was arrested by Delhi police from near Ganga Baksh Marg near Biodiversity Park, Delhi at around 11 pm," the Special Cell of Delhi Police said on August 9, according to ANI.

"One star pistol of .30 bore, 3 live cartridges and 2 mobile phones were recovered from his possession. In this regard, an FIR has been registered at PS Special Cell, Delhi," it added.

Ali was part of the Pune Module of ISIS and had been on the run. His presence in the national capital just ahead of the Independence Day is being investigated.
