Unable to find network on his phone, man goes to balcony; dies after falling from 17th floor in Noida

Ajay Gupta, a 55-year-old man, died after he fell from the 17th floor of the society in which he lived in. Gupta was on a call and had gone to the balcony looking for a phone network after he didn't find it inside the house, NDTV reported.

The incident happened on Saturday after Gupta got a call immediately after talking to his wife. He lived with his wife in the ATS One Hamlet society in Noida's sector 104.

The call came to Gupta at around 10:20 am, after which he had gone to the balcony. In the following moments, he toppled and fell from the 17th floor.

The residents of the society found Gupta lying motionless on the ground. After this, he was rushed to the hospital in Sector 110, where the doctors declared him dead. Officials said that the body has been sent for a post-mortem.

Police said that according to the preliminary probe, the death was caused by a sudden fall but the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, police is also probing other angles, including suicide.

The video footage from the society premises and the surrounding areas are also being examined. The family members are also being questioned. Ajay, who was originally from Kanpur, is now survived by his wife and his son who lives in Mumbai.
