A major fire erupted at Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) facility near Hosur in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning.
Sources said fire is believed to have started in the mobile phone accessories painting unit of the company located in Uddanapalli, near Nagamangalam at around 5:30am.
Following this, thick smoke engulfed the area, and panic spread among the workers and local residents. All employees were evacuated from the premises, and no injuries were reported. More than 10 fire tenders from Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts were deployed to douse the fire till night. The cause of the fire is not known.
A Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) spokesperson, in a statement, said: "There has been an unfortunate incident of fire at our plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Our emergency protocols ensured that all our employees are safe. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and we will take necessary actions to safeguard the interests of our employees and other stakeholders."

Police officials said four employees who had respiratory issues were taken to a private hospital, and their condition was reported to be stable. A force of more than 100 police personnel was deployed and instructed all employees to vacate the company premises.
The company, which has been involved in the production of various accessories for the iPhone. It operates on more than 500 acres and runs round the clock in shifts. Earlier in the day, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said that the company will hire more than 20,000 people at its new iPhone assembly plant in Hosur, bringing the total number of employees at the facility to 40,000.
