The Sealdah sessions court in Kolkata on Saturday found the main accused Sanjay Roy guilty in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor whose body was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
During the court proceedings, the accused Sanjay Roy claimed innocence. Addressing the judge, Roy said in the court, “I have been falsely implicated. I have not committed this crime. The real culprits are being let off, and one IPS officer is involved."

The court said that Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 64,66, 103/1 have been framed against the accused. "There is a complaint against the accused that he went to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and went to the seminar room, assaulted and murdered the lady doctor taking rest there," the court said, ANI reported.
Additional District Judge Sealdah Court found accused Roy guilty in the RG Kar rape-murder case. The punishment will be pronounced at 12.30 om on Monday.
"The accused will be heard on Monday. Now he is being sent to judicial custody," the judge stated.
The verdict comes months after the brutal crime, which sparked widespread protests across the nation, demanding justice for the victim and increased safety for medical professionals.
