The Rajasthan government will present its annual Budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the state Assembly on Tuesday at 11 am. Preparations for the Budget have been completed at both the political and administrative levels.
The Budget, to be presented by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, is expected to focus on key sectors including power and healthcare. According to indications, provisions may be announced to provide new electricity connections to farmers, domestic consumers and industries.
In the health sector, announcements are likely regarding the filling of vacant posts of nurses, paramedical staff and doctors to strengthen public healthcare services across the state.
Economic growth and exports are also expected to feature prominently in the Budget. Experts believe that exports can play a significant role in accelerating Rajasthan’s economic expansion, but stress that the government will need to move beyond routine announcements and adopt a sector-specific strategy.
According to NITI Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2024, Rajasthan lags in export competitiveness despite having strong resources, production capacity and a favourable geographical location. Experts cite high logistics costs, limited value addition, low participation of micro, small and medium enterprises, and lack of adequate policy support as key challenges that need to be addressed.
