Apache attack helicopters of the Indian Army have arrived in India and will be inducted into service after the completion of inspections and procedural formalities, the Army said today.

The helicopters are slated to be deployed in Jodhpur in the coming days once the required checks are completed, according to an official statement. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today accused the BJP-led Centre of using investigative agencies to harass the Gandhi family, asserting that the objective of the National Herald case was political vendetta rather than justice. Reacting to the court’s refusal to take cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate’s complaint in the case, Kharge welcomed the ruling, saying that “truth always triumphs.” He said the judgment exposed the alleged misuse of central agencies against opposition leaders.

Kharge claimed the National Herald case was filed with the sole intention of targeting the Congress leadership and the Gandhi family. Taking to microblogging site X, PM Modi said being honoured by one of the world’s most ancient and rich civilizations is a matter of immense pride, adding that the recognition belongs to the countless Indians who have strengthened the India-Ethiopia partnership over the years.

He further reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Ethiopia to address evolving global challenges and create new opportunities.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in coordination with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has dismantled a transnational cybercrime network operating from Noida, which allegedly defrauded US citizens of USD 8.5 million through tech-support scams. The operation, conducted under Operation Chakra, resulted in the arrest of six key operatives. Authorities recovered Rs 1.88 crore in cash, 34 electronic devices, including laptops, mobile phones, hard drives, pen drives, and documents linking the accused to the crimes. An illegal call centre run by the gang in Noida was also shut down.

According to a CBI statement, the agency acted on intelligence provided by the FBI to dismantle the sophisticated network, which had been targeting US nationals since 2022. The accused allegedly posed as officials from U.S. government agencies, including the DEA, FBI, and Social Security Administration, threatening victims with fabricated claims that their Social Security Numbers were used in money laundering and drug trafficking.

The brothers were deported from Thailand and formally arrested by Goa Police in connection with the December 6 fire that killed 25 people.

The Delhi court had earlier rejected their plea for transit anticipatory bail, citing the gravity of the allegations. Authorities ensured the brothers would receive prescribed medicines during transit as they were flown to Goa for further investigation.
