PM Modi in Assam Updates: 'Congress always endangered nation's security; Assam was in grip of fear during its rule,' says PM Modi

In such a situation, was the development of Assam possible?... In 2014, it was the result of your hard work that I got the opportunity to serve the country in the Indian government. After 2-3 years, the BJP workers made a double-engine government here. What was the result of this? In the past 10-11 years, the BJP-NDA government has completed 5 large bridges on the Brahmaputra river... Congress has only given problems to Assam, whereas the BJP has given solutions to Assam," says PM Modi in Guwahati rally.

"Today's Congress endorses the people who dream of tearing the country apart, the people who make slogans to separate the North East from India; they have become worshippers of Congress. The Muslim League divided the country during the time of freedom. Now, today's Congress has become a 'Muslim League Maoist Congress'... That is why you have to be careful of Congress... Congress's government, whether it was in Assam or in Delhi, they had left Assam on its own," says PM Modi in Guwahati rally.

"The Congress party, which refuses to acknowledge India as a nation, which questions what Mother India is, can never do any good for India. It avoids even the mention of Mother India and shows no respect for her, and that Congress never prioritized the nation's security. Because of the negativity of the Congress governments, the entire Northeast lived in fear and insecurity. Congress always kept the country at risk. During Congress's tenure, whenever weapons were purchased for the military, it meant a scam worth thousands of crores... Today, the country is strengthening its armed forces. India is building magnificent highways, magnificent tunnels, high-rise bridges, and modern airfields on its borders. It is enhancing the nation's security, and that is why Congress is bewildered. They are wondering how Modi manages to do all this," says PM Modi in Guwahati rally.

"Today, the country hasn't just got another emergency landing strip. This is also proof that the new India is preparing in every way for its security. "The national budget was presented a few days ago... We are serving the Northeast, which the Congress party has always ignored, with devotion. The Northeast is like Goddess Ashtalakshmi for us. This year's budget will further strengthen the BJP-NDA's vision for Goddess Ashtalakshmi. The budget focuses heavily on making the Northeast economically self-reliant. This year, Assam will receive approximately Rs 50,000 crore as its tax share... We should remember well how Assam was left starving during the Congress government. During the Congress regime, Assam received only Rs 10,000 crore as its tax share. Now, under the BJP government, Assam is receiving 5 times more money than it did under the Congress government," says PM Modi in Guwahati rally.

“The Congress even hesitated to give funds for the development of Assam. Can it really develop Assam? Can it ever ensure your welfare? Can it work for the benefit of the youth here, the farmers here, or the villages here?”, says PM Modi in Guwahati rally.

Addressing a rally in Assam's Guwahati, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attacked the Congress and said that the North-East was never any priority for Congress, and that its government did not give enough funds to Assam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made a historic touchdown at the Northeast’s first emergency landing facility in Assam’s Moran, arriving aboard a C 130J aircraft at the start of his one day visit to the poll bound state.

After landing earlier at the Chabua airfield, PM Narendra Modi took off again and descended onto the specially developed stretch along National Highway 37 at Moran.

In a post on X ahead of the visit, the Prime Minister said the facility would play a crucial role in emergency response by enabling the swift deployment of rescue and relief teams during difficult situations.

Built at a cost of Rs 100 crore, the 4.2 kilometre reinforced strip on the Moran Bypass has been designed as a strategic dual use runway. It can support Indian Air Force fighter jets as well as transport aircraft, enhancing defence preparedness, logistics capability and disaster response infrastructure in the region.

PM Narendra Modi reached the Chabua airfield on Saturday for his day long visit to Assam, during which he is set to launch projects valued at over Rs 5,500 crore.

During his visit to Assam today, PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, a key bridge linking Guwahati and North Guwahati across the Brahmaputra river.

The six-lane extradosed Prestressed Concrete bridge has been constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 3,030 crore. It is the first extradosed bridge in Northeast India and is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity.

Once opened, the bridge will reduce travel time between Guwahati and North Guwahati to approximately seven minutes.

PM Narendra Modi will arrive at a newly developed emergency landing facility in Dibrugarh on Saturday as part of his visit to Assam. His aircraft is scheduled to land at the 4.2-kilometre-long strip, which will also be formally inaugurated during the trip.

The project has been developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 100 crore and is being described as the first such facility in the Northeast.

Underscoring its significance, PM Modi said in a post on X: "This is the first of its kind in the Northeast. It will be important for emergency response, ensuring timely deployment of rescue and relief operations during challenging situations."

PM Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Indian Institute of Management Guwahati on Saturday as part of his visit to Assam.

"This will strengthen the educational infrastructure in the region and also draw students from all over the nation," he said in a post on X.
