Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated, laid the foundation stone, and dedicated to the nation infrastructure projects worth over Rs 830 crore across the ports, shipping, inland waterways, and railways sectors in West Bengal.
As part of the programme, the prime minister flagged off three new Amrit Bharat Express trains along with one new passenger train service, aimed at improving regional connectivity and boosting economic activity in the region.
Addressing a major public rally in Singur, West Benga, PM Modi highlighted the rapid expansion of rail connectivity in the state, saying West Bengal has emerged as a key hub for the launch of modern train services.
“Yesterday, the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train was launched from West Bengal. Bengal also received about half a dozen new Amrit Bharat Express trains. Today, three more Amrit Bharat Express trains were inaugurated. One of these trains will further strengthen the connectivity between my parliamentary constituency, Kashi (Varanasi), and Bengal,” the prime minister said.
The projects are aligned with the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat and are expected to strengthen multimodal transport infrastructure, improve passenger convenience, generate employment, and enhance logistics efficiency across eastern India.
