Operation Trashi: Soldier killed during encounter with terrorists in J&K's Kishtwar

The White Knight Corps of the Army said the soldier suffered injuries in the gunfight and died while undergoing treatment.

A soldier was killed in action during the encounter which broke out between the security forces and terrorists in the Kishtwar area of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

In a post on X, the White Knight Corps of the Army said, "During the ongoing operation, fierce gunfight is continuing. One of our bravehearts sustained grievous injuries in the exchange of fire and has succumbed despite best medical efforts. Operation is in progress."

“Army jawan martyred in ongoing Kishtwar encounter has been identified as Sepoy Gaykar Sandip Pandurang, resident of village Karandi tehsil, Akole, Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra," an official told News18.

Officials said that the joint security forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) after getting specific information about the presence of a group of three to four terrorists on Thursday.

Under Operation Trashi, exchange of fire broke out when contact was established with terrorists in the Singhpora area of Chhatru in Kishtwar this morning. Additional troops were inducted and operations are ongoing to neutralise the terrorists.
