An Air India Express flight that was going from Jaipur to Bengaluru had to make an emergency landing in Indore after a one-year-old child suffered a medical episode, NDTV reported.
The child developed breathing issues mid-air on Flight IXI1240. A fellow passenger, who was a doctor, assisted in CPR mid-air. The pilot requested the Air Traffic Control (ATC) for an emergency landing.
An ambulance was ready when the flight landed at the Indore Airport and the infant was taken to a nearby hospital. The baby, however, died during treatment, as per NDTV.
"On 6 January, there was a medical emergency involving an infant on our Jaipur-Bengaluru flight, prompting the crew to divert the aircraft to Indore. Immediate support was facilitated on board by the crew and a doctor travelling on the flight. The infant was rushed to a hospital upon landing. Unfortunately, the infant succumbed to the medical condition. We extend our deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time," an Air India Express spokesperson said.
