This initiative underscores the shared commitment to advancing technology and innovation on a global scale.

Spotlight on NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson's visit to the Bengaluru-based facility, where the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite is undergoing testing and integration, will be the center of attention. This collaboration between NASA and ISRO is a big deal in space exploration, and it's going to be a key highlight during his visit.

What is NISAR mission

The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission, a collaborative effort between NASA and ISRO, is set for an early 2024 launch. Focused on Earth observation, NISAR will provide detailed insights into forests and wetlands, crucial for regulating greenhouse gases. With a three-year mission, it will monitor global land and ice surfaces, using its innovative radar to map Earth's surface in extraordinary detail, capturing changes as small as a centimeter. NISAR's data will be instrumental in studying various phenomena, including ecosystem disturbances, natural hazards, and climate change indicators.
