The opposition is expected to raise several topics ranging from the ongoing special intensive revision in Bihar to a demand for elaborate discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor on day 2 of the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.
The Lok Sabha, on the first day of the monsoon session ended early at 4 pm after four adjournments. The disruption continued following the Opposition’s sloganeering while demanding a debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Rajya Sabha also faced short adjournments in the morning for similar reasons.
Opposition members criticised the government for failing to catch those behind the terror attack and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi come to the House. In response, Union Ministers JP Nadda (in Rajya Sabha) and Kiren Rijiju (in Lok Sabha) said the government is ready to discuss the issues, but only under the proper rules.
According to news agency ANI, the INDIA bloc leaders will raise Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) issue in the Parliament on Tuesday. A protest will also be held at the Makar Dwar of the Parliament at 10 AM.
Meanwhile, Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday resigned as the Vice President of India, citing health reasons. Dhankhar presided over the Rajya Sabha as the Chairman on the first day of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament and addressed the House at length over the impeachment of High Court judge Yashwant Sinha.
Calling the Monsoon Session a “Vijay Utsav”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that it will be productive and filled with key discussions. The PM was addressing the nation via media, ahead of the monsoon session in the Parliament today. He further hailed the Indian armed forces for decimating the terror targets in “just 22 minutes” during Operation Sindoor, and also praised the outreach programme carried by the MPs post Op Sindoor.
The monsoon session will span from July 21 to August 21, encompassing 21 sittings over 32 days. Both Houses of Parliament will be adjourned from August 12 to August 17 to facilitate Independence Day celebrations, and will reconvene on August 18.
