The last rites of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will be conducted at 11 am on Thursday at Vidya Pratishthan ground in Baramati.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are likely to attend.
Pawar, 66, was on his way to his home constituency in Baramati to participate in election-related events for the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections.
His twin-engine Learjet 45, registered VT-SSK, took off from Mumbai shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday and was attempting to land at Baramati around 8:45 a.m. when it crash-landed near the runway and burst into flames, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Final Goodbye
The mortal remains of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar are being transported to the Vidya Pratishthan grounds in Baramati, where they will be available for public viewing. This arrangement allows the thousands of supporters who have gathered in the township to pay their final respects to "Ajit Dada" before the funeral rites.
Vidya Pratishthan, an institution closely linked to the educational legacy of the Pawar family, will be the site for this final public tribute. The funeral for Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Ajit Pawar, will take place in Baramati tomorrow.
As per the government notification, the Tricolour will fly at half-mast on all official buildings across Maharashtra for the next three days. All state-sponsored entertainment programs and official functions have been canceled as a mark of respect for the leader who served as Deputy CM for a record six terms.
