The protest by junior doctors of Madhya Pradesh against the state government has found support in the national capital. Doctors of at least two major hospitals started backing their colleagues in Madhya Pradesh.
Top officials of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) also got into a huddle in solidarity, NDTV reported.
Since June 1, junior doctors in Madhya Pradesh have been protesting seeking higher stipend and free COVID-19 treatment for them as well as their families. On June 6, the MP government gave protesting doctors 24 hours to return to work or face action.
Holding placards and lighting candles along the road in front of their hostels, several doctors of Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Safdarjung Hospital came out in support of their colleagues at 7 pm on June 6, according to the news report.
FAIMA officials and leaders from at least seven city hospitals reportedly met at the Lady Hardinge Medical College to discuss their future course of action.
As many as 3,500 junior doctors working in six government medical colleges in MP resigned after the Madhya Pradesh High Court had directed them to end their strike.
