Aadhaar Card updation date extended

The government has extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar details without any fees. Initially set for June 14, 2024, the deadline has now been deferred to September 14, 2024, as per the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website.

Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identification number issued based on biometric and demographic information, plays a crucial role in various services requiring Aadhaar OTP authentication. It helps prevent duplicate and fraudulent identities, ensuring that each resident has a unique number linked to their biometrics.

For those whose Aadhaar was issued over 10 years ago and hasn't been updated, UIDAI advises submitting documents as proof of identity and proof of address to validate and improve demographic information. This ensures better service delivery and authentication success.

To update Aadhaar details online, follow these steps:
1. Visit the official UIDAI website: https://uidai.gov.in/
2. Log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP received on your registered mobile number.
3. Verify your identity and address details displayed.
4. If corrections are needed, select the appropriate documents (identity and address) from the drop-down menu and upload them (files should be JPEG, PNG, or PDF format and under 2 MB).
5. Review and submit your request after providing consent.

Biometric information such as iris scans, fingerprints, and facial photographs cannot be updated online. Additionally, changes to date of birth and gender details are restricted to one update each.

For those preferring offline updates, download the Aadhaar enrolment form from the UIDAI website, fill it out, and submit it along with necessary documents at your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra. Biometric information will be collected, and an acknowledgment slip with the Update Request Number (URN) will be issued for tracking the status of your update.

Stay updated and ensure your Aadhaar information is current before the new deadline to avoid inconvenience in accessing services requiring Aadhaar authentication.
