Microsoft to permanently close all its physical stores
Microsoft on Friday said that it is permanently closing nearly all of its physical stores around the world.
Like other retailers, the software and computing giant had to temporarily close all of its stores in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to its website, Microsoft has 83 stores worldwide, including 72 stores in the US, and several others abroad where they showcase and sell laptops and other hardware.
Friday's announcement reflects what the company calls a “strategic change” for its retail business as sales increasingly shift online.

Centre permits domestic airlines to operate at 45% capacity
The Centre has allowed domestic airlines to operate at 45 percent capacity.
Domestic airlines had earlier been allowed to resume flights operations at one-third capacity, in a calibrated manner from May 25 onwards.
Earlier on June 26, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) also announced that international flights to and from India would remain suspended until July 15, except on select routes as decided on a case-to-case basis.

Kerala reports 150 new COVID-19 cases, tally inching towards 4000 mark
Kerala's COVID-19 tally is inching towards the 4,000 mark as the state continued to see a sharp spike for the eight consecutive day with 150 people, including six CISF personnel and a health worker being infected on Friday.
With the addition of the fresh cases, the infection count in the state has reached 3876. The new positive cases today include 91 from abroad and 48 people from other states.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has inducted 11 new labs in last 24 hours. India now has 1,016 diagnostic labs dedicated to COVID-19. During the past 24 hours, 2,15,446 tests have been conducted. The total number of samples tested, as on date, is 77,76,228.

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi tests positive for coronavirus
Congress leader and party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi has home quarantined himself after testing positive for COVID-19, sources close to him said on June 26.
While he has mild symptoms like fever, the sources said, his wife has also tested positive for the virus and has isolated herself at home as per the government guidelines.
After Singhvi tested positive, his son and other family members and staff are also being tested for the virus. Singhvi is the second Congress leader after Sanjay Jha to test positive for COVID-19. Jha has since recovered in Mumbai.

Government says international flights on select routes may be allowed
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on June 26 said "international scheduled flights may be allowed on select routes by the competent authority on case- to-case basis".
The development comes in the wake of the US Transportation Department had asked for a "level-playing field for US airlines".
DGCA said scheduled international commercial passenger flights to and from India will remain suspended until July 15.
The restriction shall not, however, apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the DGCA.

CBSE board exams 2020 cancelled: How will students be assessed?
The Supreme Court on June 26 approved the CBSE's proposal to cancel the remaining Class 10 and 12 board examination papers. The top court also allowed the education board to go ahead with the evaluation scheme it has developed to assess and promote the students.
Class 10 and 12 students, who have written all their board exam papers, will be evaluated on the basis of their performance in the CBSE board exams 2020.
Those who could appear for more than three board examination papers would be marked on the remaining subjects based on the average of the marks secured in the top three performing subjects.
CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 students who could appear for only three exam papers, would be marked on the remaining papers by taking an average of the marks obtained in the best two performing subjects.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a 12-hour night curfew will be imposed across the state from 7 pm onwards from Friday and a 14-day complete lockdown will be enforced in Kamrup (Metro) district, of which Guwahati city is a part, from June 28 midnight, following a spurt in COVID-19 cases.
Guwahati, the gateway to the northeast region, has reported 762 coronavirus cases since June 15, and 677 of them have no travel history, though many had come in contact with those returned to the state from outside, the minister told reporters here. Guwahati, he said. "We are now left with no choice but to impose a complete lockdown for 14 days from June 28 midnight, and this time it will be very strict as no grocery shops will be allowed to open or supply of vegetables and other essentials will be permitted for the first seven days," he said. The number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi is increasing since testing has increased,Chief MinisterArvindKejriwal said. Nearly 20,000 tests being conducted daily in Delhi, hesaid.
"We have permission to conduct plasma therapy at LNJP and Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality hospitals. Since the start of plasma therapy at LNJP hospital, the number of deaths has reduced to less than half as compared to earlier," Kejriwal added.

SC accepts CBSE's revised assessment scheme
The Supreme Court (SC) today accepted the revised assessment scheme notification by theCentral Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Justice AM Khanwilkar said that SCaccepted the notification issued by CBSE.
In its order, SC said that any other petition on the matter conducting exams for Class X and XII by CBSE scheduled for July 1 to July 15, 2020, stands disposed off by this order. ICSE in principle will issue similar notification.
