As many as 29,398 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported, with India’s total COVID-19 cases above 97 lakh, as per health ministry’s December 11 update.
India reported 414 new deaths (below the 500 mark for the sixth day) and 37,528 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the latest release shows. Active cases continue to drop, to 3,63,749 with a fall of 8,544 cases in a day.
Kerala reported the most (4,470) new cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Maharashtra (3,824), West Bengal (2,801), Uttar Pradesh (1,662) and Rajasthan (1,592). These top five states account for 49 percent of all the new cases in India. Delhi reported 1,575 new cases, lowest since September 1.

Maharashtra reported the most (70) deaths, followed by Delhi (61), West Bengal (49), Punjab (27), Haryana (26) and Kerala (26). These six states account for 63 percent of all the new deaths reported across the country.
About eight states and union territories like Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli/Daman and Diu, Goa, Ladakh, Manipur and Mizoram did not report any deaths today.
India’s recovery rate is at 94.8 percent. Dadra Nagar Haveli/Daman & Diu record the highest (99.3 percent) recovery rate, while Himachal Pradesh reports the lowest (81.9 percent).
In terms of cases, Karnataka recorded 5,076 new recoveries, the most, followed by Maharashtra (5,068), Kerala (4,847), Delhi (3,307), and West Bengal (2,951).
The total number of COVID-19 cases in India now at 97,96,769 with 92,90,834 recoveries and 1,42,186 deaths as per December 11, update. The mortality rate in the country stands at 1.5 percent with Punjab reporting the highest (3.2 percent).

Less than 10 lakh (8,72,497) daily tests were reported on December 10 with more than 15.16 crore tests carried out till date.
