Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, currently on a four-day visit to Japan, held an interactive session with a senior delegation from Toyota Motor Corporation, one of the world’s leading automakers. During the discussions, Yadav explored potential trade ties with Toshiyuki Nakahara, Department General Manager, Administration and Support Department for India and the Middle East, and Masahiro Nogi, Project General Manager of the same department at Toyota.
In a meeting with Toshiyuki Nakahara and Masahiro Nogi, senior executives from Toyota's India and Middle East Division, Yadav underscored Madhya Pradesh’s strategic advantages, including its central location, which provides easy access to other markets. He also spotlighted the Pithampur Auto Cluster as a hub of business opportunities for automotive players.
"Madhya Pradesh offers vast land, a skilled youth workforce, excellent infrastructure, and a rapidly growing automobile sector," Yadav wrote on X, inviting Toyota to explore investment opportunities. He also highlighted the state’s 52 private and 17 government technology and engineering colleges, which produce 50,000 trained youth annually, ready for technical and related jobs.
Yadav also highlighted Madhya Pradesh's central location within India as a strategic advantage for businesses, offering easy access to other markets across the country. He invited Toyota to explore various investment opportunities, underscoring the state’s potential to be a key player in the automotive industry.
Toyota officials acknowledged Madhya Pradesh's importance as a potential hub, expressing interest in strengthening collaboration with the state. They highlighted Toyota's existing initiatives, including the Toyota Technical Education Program aimed at skilling youth, and noted the company's commitment to "growing together with India."
The Chief Minister further underscored Madhya Pradesh's position as India’s second-largest manufacturer of trucks and buses, and the third-largest manufacturer of cars. With a strong presence of global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and export capabilities to over 200 countries, the state is a key player in India's automobile sector. In FY24, Madhya Pradesh exported automobiles and components worth $191 million, supported by a robust policy framework offering up to 40% capital subsidy.
Yadav also pointed out that major automotive companies like Volvo and Mahindra & Mahindra have already set up operations in the state, benefiting from its cost-effective land, skilled workforce, and strong domestic market. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh is positioned as a premier hub for commercial vehicles, farm equipment, and direct exports to global markets.
Toyota expressed a willingness to evaluate trade opportunities during the upcoming Global Investor Summit in Madhya Pradesh, signaling a potential deepening of ties with the state.
