Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday hit out at the ruling BJP, accusing it of seeking political opportunity even in the death of NCP chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Speaking to reporters, the Rajya Sabha MP said the BJP had no regard for the mourning period. “The BJP has nothing to do with the mourning period. It is looking for an opportunity even in death. This is not the time to talk about the matter. I will speak after the mourning period is over,” Raut said.
He declined to comment on reports about Sunetra Pawar, Ajit Pawar’s wife, being sworn in as deputy chief minister, saying no one had concrete information on the issue.
Ajit Pawar was killed in a plane crash in Baramati in Pune district on January 28, along with four others.
When asked about NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar’s remark that he had “no idea” about Sunetra Pawar’s possible swearing-in, Raut said only the top BJP leadership or NCP leaders Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare might be aware of such developments.
