Bihar Election 2025: VIP candidate is richest in fray, has assets worth over Rs 368.98 crore

According to ADR, BJP candidate from Munger, Kumar Pranay, declared assets worth Rs 170 crore. He is the richest candidate in phase 1 of Bihar election.

Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) candidate Ran Kaushal Pratap Singh contesting Lauriya is the richest candidate in the second phase of Bihar election, declaring assets worth Rs 368.98 crore, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

His declared holdings include agricultural land valued at Rs 2.58 crore, non-agricultural land worth Rs 352 crore, and shares and securities worth Rs 5.51 crore. His wife, Saloni Singh, has assets of Rs 131 crore and investments worth Rs 6.59 crore.

According to local reports, his family owns seven luxury vehicles, including two Toyota Fortuners, an Audi, and an Innova. Household jewellery comprises around 3.4 kg of gold owned by his wife and daughters, while Singh himself declared 600 grams of gold and diamond jewellery. Singh and his wife also possess foreign-made firearms.

On other hand, BSP candidate Sunil Kumar Choudhary contesting from Pirpainti (SC) constituency has declared zero assets. Also,  Suresh Rajvanshi from Samaj Party fighting in Wazirganj, has declared assets worth Rs 1,100.

Kumar Pranay has no criminal cases registered against him. According to the ADR, 30 per cent of the candidates in the first phase have criminal cases.

Out of the 1,297 candidates, 562 (43%) are crorepatis in Phase 2. The average of assets per candidate contesting in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 Phase II is Rs 3.44 Crore.

 Phase 1

According to ADR, BJP candidate from Munger, Kumar Pranay, declared assets worth Rs 170 crore. He is the richest candidate in phase 1 of Bihar election.

According to the affidavit, his movable assets, which include cash, bank deposits, shares, and other investments, are valued at Rs 83.35 crore. Meanwhile, immovable assets include agricultural and non-agricultural land, along with buildings, with a current market value of Rs 86.65 crore.

His wife's declared movable assets are worth Rs 132 crore. The ADR report lists 519 (40 per cent) of the 1,303 candidates in the first phase as millionaires.

Several other wealthy candidates are in the fray for the first phase of Bihar election. According to the ADR report, Anant Singh from Mokama (approximately Rs 70 crore) is in third place among the richest in the second phase. JD(U)'s Manorama Devi from Belagnj (Rs 69 crore) is the richest woman candidate, with assets primarily concentrated in real estate and agricultural land.

Out of the 1,303 candidates, 519 (40%) are crorepatis. The average of assets per candidate contesting in the Bihar election Phase I is Rs 3.26 crore.
