Indian Army will soon get a combat edge as three AH-64E Apache attack helicopters are set to be inducted within the next two-three days, according to a report by News18. The induction of Apache attack helicopters will mark a key boost to India’s combat capabilities along the western front. Sources indicate the helicopters are expected to arrive in Jodhpur by July 21, with formal induction likely on July 22, following a Joint Receipt Inspection (JRI) process.

These units are the first of six helicopters ordered by the Indian Army. A dedicated Apache squadron has already been raised in Jodhpur to oversee operations and deployment near the western border.

One of the most advanced attack helicopters

The AH-64E Apache is among the most advanced attack helicopters in the world. Built by Boeing, it is capable of executing precision strikes in high-threat environments. With its proven performance in global military operations, its addition is expected to significantly enhance India’s tactical edge in the region.

The Indian Army raised its first squadron of Apache attack helicopters in Rajasthan seeking to support ground operations in the western sector, officials said. The AH-64 Apache is one of the world’s most advanced multi-role combat helicopters and is flown by the US Army.

Sources said the squadron has been raised in Jodhpur. Manufactured by American aerospace major Boeing, Apache is one of the world's most advanced multi-role combat helicopters and is flown by the US Army.

The Indian Air Force already operates a fleet of these attack helicopters. In 2020, Boeing completed delivery of 22 E-model Apaches to the Indian Air Force and signed a contract to produce six AH-64Es for the Indian Army.

The AH-64E Apache attack helicopter features cutting-edge communications, navigation, and targeting systems. One of its key highlights is an advanced targeting system that enables pilots to lock onto and engage targets effectively—whether in daylight, darkness, or under challenging weather conditions like fog, rain, or dust.

Armed with a 30 mm chain gun and equipped with guided Hellfire missiles and rocket pods, the Apache is designed to deliver lethal firepower against multiple ground targets. Its Longbow radar, positioned above the rotor, allows it to detect and prioritize threats without exposing the helicopter directly.

With powerful engines, reinforced rotors, and robust survivability features, the AH-64E is engineered to operate in high-risk zones. It combines speed, precision, and endurance—making it a critical asset for complex combat operations.
