And with that, we wrap up this one-sided final and bring the curtain down on the Tri-Nation Series. The trophy and cheque have been presented to the Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who proudly lifts it alongside her teammates as they celebrate and pose for photos in front of the Champions banner. We hope you enjoyed our coverage of the series - until next time, it's goodbye from us!

Harmanpreet Kaur, the victorious skipper of India Women, says she is proud of the team for the way they played, especially the batters. She feels that improving as a team never stops, and there are a lot of areas where they need to keep improving. She mentions that in the last few months, they have lost some players to injuries, and hence they will be working on keeping their players fresh and injury-free for the upcoming World Cup. Apart from her and Smriti, the contributions from Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, Pratika Rawal, and Sneh Rana have all been very useful. She says they did struggle for the first two days in Sri Lanka due to the heat, but then they got used to it, and now they are looking to enjoy this victory here in Sri Lanka.

Sneh Rana is the PLAYER OF THE SERIES for her amazing bowling display, picking up 15 wickets in the series. She says that she is pleased to contribute to the team’s success, and she has worked hard to play and perform like that at this level, and she is grateful for that. Adds that her strategy was just to give air to the ball and offers as much flight as she can, and just follows her skipper’s plan on the field. Mentions that she is pretty confident about her team and they have played good throughout the series.

Smriti Mandhana is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her fantastic century. She says she assessed the conditions and the wicket initially, and spent some time at the crease, and once set, she changed gears. Mentions the wickets have been good for batting, and it’s not been easy for the bowlers, and that’s why she feels their bowlers did a very good job.

The captain of Sri Lanka Women, Chamari Athapaththu, says that she gives credit to the Indian team for the way they have played this series, and it was tough to chase a 340-plus total, and the dropped catches just added extra pressure. Adds that the bowling unit struggled a bit as Smriti Mandhana batted really well in the middle overs. Mentions that they have to improve their fielding and catching ability going forward, and they are even trying to get better fielding coaches. States that they need to improve their batting as well before the upcoming World Cup, and they lack power hitters down the order, which costs them when they need to finish things on a high note.

Presentation Time...

India Women will be thoroughly satisfied with their bowling performance while defending a daunting total. Not only bowling, they were outstanding in the field as well, which was a huge difference maker in this final. Amanjot Kaur set the tone early with a breakthrough, and although wickets didn’t come immediately after, the bowlers maintained tight lines, forcing the batters into taking risks. Kaur’s return for a second spell proved timely as she broke a promising stand, paving the way for the spinners to tighten the screws. Shree Charani and Sneh Rana combined to claim three crucial wickets in the middle overs, effectively derailing the chase. From there, it was only a matter of time - a couple of run-outs and Rana’s four-wicket haul sealed the deal for the visitors.

Earlier in the game, India Women piled on a massive total, the highest ever in Sri Lanka in WODIs. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a brilliant century, while all of the top five chipped in with useful contributions. Towards the end, Amanjot Kaur and Deepti Sharma added the finishing touches with some powerful hitting. For Sri Lanka Women, Sugandika Kumari was the standout bowler, picking up a couple of wickets. Malki Madara and Dewmi Vihanga also claimed two apiece, while Inoka Ranaweera chipped in with one, but overall, the bowling unit proved to be too expensive.

Harshitha Samarawickrama’s dismissal while attempting to accelerate marked the beginning of a dramatic collapse, as Sri Lanka Women crumbled from 173/3 to 192/7 in no time, effectively ending any hopes of a comeback. Anushka Sanjeewani and Sugandika Kumari did put up some resistance and showed plenty of fight, but the damage had already been done. What the chase really needed was a substantial knock from one of the top-order batters, and that never came. In the end, it proved to be a task too steep, with Sri Lanka falling short by a massive 97 runs.

Sri Lanka Women endured a disastrous start, losing a wicket in the very first over. But skipper Chamari Athapaththu and young Vishmi Gunarathne dug in and steadied the innings with a solid 68-run partnership. However, Vishmi once again failed to convert her start into a meaningful score - a recurring issue for her throughout the series. Nilakshika Silva then joined Chamari at the crease, and while the pair kept the scoreboard ticking, boundaries were hard to come by and the required rate kept creeping up. Chamari battled her way to a hard-fought half-century but was dismissed immediately after reaching the milestone. Following her departure, Harshitha Samarawickrama and Nilakshi stitched together a valuable 52-run stand, but the much-needed acceleration never really came.

INDIA WOMEN ARE THE TRI-NATION SERIES CHAMPIONS! A commanding performance in the final capped off a dominant campaign as they clinched the title in style. They were simply a class apart, outplaying Sri Lanka Women in all departments. Credit to Sri Lanka for the fight they showed throughout the series, but chasing a target of over 340 in a final was always going to be a monumental task, and they were never truly in the contest.

48.2OUT! CAUGHT! INDIAN WOMEN WIN THIS FINAL BY 97 RUNS! Sneh Rana finishes things as she picks up her fourth wicket. She flights it up and bowls it a bit full and into the stumps. Anushka Sanjeewani wants to take her on as she doesn't have any other option to hang around. She uses her feet to get to the pitch of the ball and looks to slog it across the line. But she manages to only mistime it off the bottom part of the bat towards long on, where Amanjot Kaur comes a bit forward and takes this fine catch to end the inning of Sri Lanka Women. 29.1Short and outside off, Nilakshika Silva guides it in the gap between short third and backward point but can't get a single.

DRINKS! Sri Lanka Women are lagging behind in this chase as they still need 193 runs in the last 21 overs, and they have lost three wickets already. The in-form batter Harshitha Samarawickrama is on the crease, which is good news for them, along with the set batter Nilakshika Silva. They will count on these two to play aggressively from here and hunt down their biggest chase ever in ODIs. On the other hand, India Women have been precise with their strategy to bowl, and they have kept the pressure on till now with timely wickets. They need a couple more to break the spine of the batting lineup of Sri Lanka, and the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur will back her spinners to deliver here.
