Xiaomi India appointed Sandeep Singh Arora as its Chief Business Officer. In this strategic role, Arora will spearhead business development initiatives, focusing on driving revenue growth, building strategic partnerships, and expanding the company’s market presence in India.
Arora’s expertise in product marketing, category management, retail operations and brand strategy is expected to significantly enhance the organisation's ability to navigate the evolving market landscape, the Chinese handset maker said.
“Xiaomi India is at the forefront of transforming the tech landscape in India, and its commitment to making innovative technology accessible to all is truly inspiring. The brand’s culture, core values, and dynamism resonate with me. Our focus will be on delivering exceptional products to aspirational Indians. I am looking forward to contributing to Xiaomi’s success in India,” Arora said.
Before joining Xiaomi, Arora held key roles at Samsung India’s Consumer Electronics division, serving as Head of the Online Business Unit and Head of Marketing Communications. His previous leadership positions include VP of Marketing at Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (The Times of India Group), Category Director and EVP of Marketing at PepsiCo India, and roles at Unilever.
As part of its 2025 strategy, Xiaomi is positioning itself as a "smartphone + IoT" leader. The company plans to expand its portfolio with new product categories, including integrated smart home devices and other Internet of Things (IoT) products.
Xiaomi slipped to fifth in smartphone shipments in the September quarter with an 11.4 percent market share, market tracker IDC's recent India Q3 report said. Its shipments, however, grew 2.7 percent year-on-year.
