Business Wire IndiaAutodesk, Inc. a world leader in 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software concluded the India 3D Student Design Challenge, 2015 that witnessed participation from over 2000 colleges across several states. The participants showcased their creativity and aptitude for design in this year’s challenge which had the theme – ‘The Future of Making Things’.
The challenge, gave students a platform to use latest design technology and improve their digital design skills while developing original sustainable designs for a better future. The competition invited students from Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial Production, Product Design and related disciplines to showcase digital design skills on a challenging platform. The first phase of the competition covered seven states, namely Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. These colleges were identified from each of the seven states to activate relevant software, followed by two-day workshops for students conducted by Autodesk experts.

The finals were conducted at Dayananda Sagar University, Bangalore on 7th November, 2015 where all the state-wise winners were invited for the final competition. The winners in aIl three categories were:

The Chief Guest at the 3D Student Design Challenge, Prof. A.N.N.Murthy – Vice Chancellor – Dayananda Sagar University & Chairman – Board of Studies – Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka said, “With the advent of Digital technology, the entire Design process in respect of product/process has gone through with major changes. As a part of Engineering education there is a need to train the students and expose them to these new changes in Design and also making use of the advanced design tools to meet the challenges. In this regard, 3D Student Design Challenge organized by Autodesk provides an excellent opportunity to the students in demonstrating their creativity in design synthesis as well as analysis. It was an experience for me as an academician interacting with students and Industry partners during the 3D Student Design Challenge finals held on 7th November 2015 under the aegis of Autodesk, a leading industry in design software’s. I congratulate & compliment Autodesk in providing the students & faculty to use the advanced design tools such as Autodesk and hence make them employable and acceptable by the Industry”.
The winners from DSK International, Sardar Vallabhai National Institute of Technology and Faculty of Architecture SCET will be getting a chance to attend Autodesk Panorama at Singapore in 2016. Autodesk Panorama is an Asia Pacific student expert boot camp which will be held in Institute of Technical Education, Singapore from 21st to 25th March 2016.
