FIIs were net sellers of Rs 485 crore in Index Futures on Tuesday; which open interest (OI) was up by 43649 contracts. However, FIIs were net buyers of Rs 208 crore in Stock Futures; which OI was up by 13057 contracts.
Total Nifty Futures' open interest went down by Rs 179 crore while Options' open interest was up by Rs 3472 crore.
Nifty 5400 Call added 23.2 lakh shares in Open Interest and its premium fell from 102 to 55. Nifty 5100 Put added 14.9 lakh shares in Open Interest and its premium was up from 21 to 30.
Fresh shorts & delivery based selling were seen in Unitech, Lanco Infratech, Punj Lloyd, JSW Steel, BEML and India Infoline. Unitech plunged 7%; its OI was up by 9% and delivery based selling was at 1.2 crore shares.
Lanco Infra crashed 18.5%; its OI was up by 40% and delivery based selling was at 1.3 crore shares. Punj Lloyd fell 11.9%; its OI was up by 7% and delivery based selling stood at 50 lakh shares.
JSW Steel slipped 7.5%; its OI was up by 20% and delivery volume increased at 7.6 lakh equity shares (29%) versus 2.2 lakh (16%) shares.
BEML lost 11.6%; its OI was up by 24% and delivery volume jumped at 2.9 lakh equity shares (40%) as against 44,000 shares (58%).
India Infoline fell 7.5%; its OI was up by 12% and delivery volume shot up by 10 times at 30.5 lakh shares (49%) versus 3 lakh shares (30%).
