Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Simple Energy on January 5 launched the Gen 2 versions of its Simple One and Simple OneS scooters, while also introducing a new long-range variant branded Simple Ultra, which offers an IDC-certified range of 400 km.

“Generation 1 had strong engineering, but it wasn’t perfected the way we wanted it to be, which is why we redesigned the chassis, battery architecture, and software for Gen 2," Suhas Rajkumar, cofounder and CEO of Simple Energy told Moneycontrol.

The newly unveiled Simple Ultra is powered by a 6.5 kWh battery and becomes the longest-range electric scooter in the company’s portfolio.

“We shifted to heavy rare-earth-free motors after supply constraints last year, and those motors have been in production for the last six months," he said.

According to the company, the scooter has a top speed of 115 kmph and accelerates from 0–40 kmph in 2.77 seconds. With this launch, Simple Energy’s portfolio now consists of four electric scooter models catering to different range and performance segments.

“With Simple Ultra, we are extending the range from 265 km to 400 km on the same scooter architecture without changing the vehicle size," Rajkumar added.

The Gen 2 Simple One is being offered in two battery configurations.

The 4.5 kWh variant offers an IDC-certified range of 236 km and is priced at Rs 1,69,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), while the 5 kWh variant offers an IDC range of 265 km, priced at Rs 1,77,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

The Simple OneS Gen 2, positioned as a more affordable offering, comes with an IDC range of 190 km and is priced at Rs 1,49,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

Simple Energy said the Gen 2 Simple One scooters include upgrades over earlier versions, such as additional storage, new riding features, and reduced kerb weight. The company also introduced traction control, regenerative braking options, and cruise control across the Gen 2 lineup. Both Simple One Gen 2 variants support six riding modes and feature a 35-litre under-seat storage capacity .

“We are not launching today and delivering six months later. All models are already in production and available at dealerships from day one," Rajkumar added.

The Simple OneS Gen 2, powered by a 3.7 kWh battery, delivers a top speed of 90 kmph and has seen a marginal increase in IDC range compared to its earlier version. The scooter’s kerb weight has been reduced to 118 kg, and braking performance has been improved, the company said.

All the scooters support home charging through a portable 750W charger and come with an eight-year motor warranty, along with separate warranties for the vehicle and charger.

The scooters will be sold through over 61 company showrooms across cities including Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Kochi, Jaipur and Goa, and will also be available through e-commerce platforms Amazon and Flipkart.

Founded in 2019 by Suhas Rajkumar and Shreshth Mishra, with Ankit Gupta later joining as co-founder, Simple Energy is headquartered in Bengaluru and focuses on in-house development of electric two-wheelers.

The company said it has raised $51 million to date from investors and high-net-worth individuals, including Dr Arokiaswamy Velumani’s family office, the Desai family office of Apar Industries, and other family offices.

Simple Energy said it plans to expand to around 150 dealerships and 200 service centres by March 2026.
