Noida Twin Tower Demolition: The biggest residential demolition in India took place in Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The Noida twin towers in Sector 93 built by developer Supertech Ltd, steeped in controversy for years, was be reduced to a mountain of rubble and dust at 2.30 pm on Sunday.
The area, off the Expressway in Noida, was buzzing with activity thanks to a steady stream of curious onlookers, fleeing residents and large posse of police. Moneycontrol is bringing you a rolling coverage of the demolition with its journalists and cameramen assembled at Ground Zero.

Gas and electricity supply has been restored by the Noida administration in the area where the now-demolished Supertech twin towers stood. The air quality index has remained in moderate category since 3 pm, despite the massive release of dust particulates in the air. The ATS village was, comparatively, more affected due to the dust.
The clean-up operation will continue on August 29 from 7-8 am, officials said, adding thatwater sprinkling will also continue for some more time.

"A lot of research is going to take place going forward on this demolition,"Edifice Engineering's Uttkarsh Mehtasaid, on being asked about the new learnings from the implosion.
One way of looking at demolition is that it is a national waste as lot of iron, steel and building material has gone into it, saidEdifice Engineering's Uttkarsh Mehta. "Demolition was more of prestige for us rather than revenue," he added.
Jet Demolition, which was hired for its technical expertise for bringing down the Supertech buildings, expressed satisifaction over the execution of the project."Pleased with the way things turned out; we never worked on a building as robust as twin towers,"Jet Demolition officialJoeBrinkmann said in a press briefing.
Realty firm Supertech Ltd has incurred a loss of about Rs 500 crore, including construction and interest costs, because of the demolition of its twin towers in Noida, the company's Chairman R K Arora said. Read full report
