SBI Card launches 3 credit card variants in travel category with SBI Card Miles

SBI Card MILES users can convert travel credits to air miles and hotel points with card partners. Users get accelerated rewards on every travel booking, and airport lounge access, among other benefits. The annual charges for the card start from Rs 1,499 and go up to Rs 4,999, before tax.

Indians are travelling the length and breadth of the country and have become globetrotters thanks to rising incomes. And with their travel plans becoming bigger, they want curated benefits to enhance their experiences. Now, with the travel season at its peak and the rise in spends using travel credit cards, SBI Card has launched three variants of its travel-focused credit card, SBI Card MILES.

The three variants are SBI Card MILES ELITE, SBI Card MILES PRIME, and SBI Card MILES. The card is aimed at bringing travel benefits to travellers of all kinds, from frequent fliers to travel enthusiasts.

At the launch of the card, Abhijit Chakravorty, MD and CEO, SBI Card, said, “SBI Card MILES is our endeavour to offer our customers the best of all travel benefits.”

The card is available on the Mastercard and RuPay network.

What’s on offer?

SBI Card MILES users can convert travel credits to air miles and hotel points. They also get accelerated rewards on every travel booking, and airport lounge access, among other benefits.

The cardholders can earn up to six travel credits on every Rs 200 travel spend and up to two travel credits on spending Rs 200 on other categories. One can convert these travel credits into air miles/hotel points of respective partners or directly use them to book air tickets and hotel accommodations by visiting the SBI Card mobile app or website.

The cardholders have a choice of travel credits redemption. Card partners include over 20 airline and hotel brands, including Air Vistara, Air India, Spicejet, Air France-KLM, Etihad Airways, Air Canada, Thai Airways, Qantas Airways, ITC Hotels, IHG Hotels & Resorts, and Accor.

SBI Card MILES ELITE comes with multiple and varied spending milestone benefits. These include up to 5,000 travel credits on reaching spends of Rs 1 lakh in 60 days of enrolment; up to 20,000 travel credits on a spend milestone of Rs 12 lakh; and a spends-based fee reversal on reaching a milestone of Rs 15 lakh (see graphic).

Key highlights

SBI Card MILES ELITE offers priority pass membership to cardholders. Using the card, cardholders will get up to eight complimentary domestic lounge visits and up to six international airport lounge visits in a year. The card also enables users to earn additional domestic lounge access. For instance, every time a cumulative spend of Rs 1 lakh is achieved, the cardholder will receive one gift voucher for lounge access, which can be used by either the holder or the guest.

On SBI Card MILES ELITE, the forex mark-up charges are 1.99 percent. The card offers travel insurance cover.

Charges

The joining and annual fee for SBI Card MILES ELITE is Rs 4,999 plus applicable taxes, while SBI Card MILES PRIME and SBI Card MILES have a fee of Rs 2,999 and Rs 1,499 plus applicable taxes, respectively.
