Gold prices recorded a decline on April 4 as US President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs rattled global markets and reignited recession fears. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association, gold (999 purity) was trading at around Rs 90,310 per 10 gm on April 4.

Gold's June contracts on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) traded at Rs 89,451 per 10 gram on April 4.
"The pullback followed a sharp sell-off in global markets triggered by recessionary concerns, as President Trump's announcement of sweeping tariffs across several countries sparked panic across asset classes. With the US Non-Farm Payrolls data due later today, we anticipate continued volatility in bullion," said Axis Securities.

While 24-carat gold is a 100 percent pure form of gold with no trace of any other metal, the 22-carat variant has 91.67 percent pure gold along with some traces of alloyed metals like silver or copper.
