He did his schooling from Modern School, Delhi. Following which he completed his graduation in Economics (Hons) from St. Stephens, Delhi University and M.A from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Amitabh Kant, the incumbent Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog, has been granted a one-year extension by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension in tenure of Shri Amitabh Kant CEO of Niti Aayog for a further period of one year beyond 30.06.2021 i.e., up to 30.06. 2022," it said in a statement.
On June 19, Kant was part of the annual India-US Biopharma and Healthcare Summit which brought together both stakeholders from India and the US.
The summit, which was held virtually, was attended by Pfizer CEO Dr Alberta Bourla, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Dr Francis Collins and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Acting Commissioner Dr Janet Woodcock.
“The pandemic has demonstrated the need for global collaboration and partnership in drug and vaccine development, clinical research and trials, health data analytics to provide solutions at a faster pace,” Kant had said.
Kant has been the recipient of several awards, including the Economic Time Policy Change Agent of the Year Award, the Bloomberg TV Personality of the year Award, the NDTV Administrator of the year Award and the Distinguished Fellowship of the Institute of Directors, as per the Niti Aayog website.
