    HDFC MF drops banks, engg, oil&gas, pharma

    In the banking & financial services space, the fund sold State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, LIC Housing Finance and exited from Indian Overseas Bank.

      HDFC Mutual Fund has decreased its weightage in banking & financial services, engineering & capital goods, oil & gas and pharmaceuticals. However, it increased its investments in telecommunication.

      Sterlite Industries (India), LIC Housing Finance and Zee Entertainment Enterprises were the top sells by the fund, while Sesa Sterlite, Jaiprakash Power Ventures and Dish TV were the top buys.

      A study of the scheme for the quarter of June-September 2013 shows that in the banking & financial services space, the fund sold State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, LIC Housing Finance and exited from Indian Overseas Bank. However, it bought HDFC Bank, ING Vysya Bank and HDFC in the same space.

      It sold Larsen and Toubro, Jaiprakash Associates, Adani Ports and exited from National Buildings Construction Corporation in the engineering & capital goods segment, while it purchased SKF India in the same segment. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).

      In the oil & gas space, the fund sold Oil India, ONGC and BPCL. While, it bought Reliance Industries.

      It sold Lupin, Ipca Laboratories, Divis Laboratories and Cipla from pharmaceuticals pack but it purchased Wockhardt and Strides Arcolab from the same pack.

      The fund purchased Bharti Airtel and introduced Idea Cellular in the telecommunication segment. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?).
