Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money
The Nifty 50 slipped into weakness today, closing near the day’s low after facing heavy selling pressure around 24,770–24,800. The index briefly held above 24,610, but selling dragged it down toward slope support at 24,540. If this level breaks, the next cushion lies near 24,400. A further breach would confirm that the short-term trend has turned more negative.
From a technical perspective, momentum indicators are stretched and nearing oversold zones, which could spark a short-covering bounce. However, until key resistances are decisively cleared, the undertone remains cautious.
Dilip Parmar, Research Analyst, HDFC Securities
The Indian Rupee chocked its fifth consecutive monthly decline, driven primarily by persistent foreign fund outflows and mounting trade concerns. The rise in the trade deficit, coupled with limited intervention from the central bank, has weighed on the rupee in recent months, despite its trade-weighted valuation suggesting it is undervalued. The future trajectory of the rupee will be highly dependent on foreign fund flows, developments in US-India trade agreements, and the dollar's reaction to the US government shutdown.
From a technical perspective, the outlook for the USD/INR pair remains bullish, with 89.10 acting as immediate resistance and 88.20 as a key support level.

The US market seems to have taken heed, delaying any worries about a looming Oct. 1 deadline to fund the federal government.
The payrolls numbers are not necessarily all that meaningful from a long-term investment point of view. But we have to talk about it because the US market is so focused on it as the weakening labor market is the reason for the Fed to ease monetary policy and cut rates. It’s the only payroll report they’re going to see between now and the next FOMC meeting later this month.

The near-term market structure appears weak. Sustained FII selling and absence of positive triggers are preventing any strong recovery in the market. Any attempt to climb up is facing selling pressure. This is evident from the negative closing yesterday despite the positive institutional inflow of above Rs 1000 crores.
Long-term investors can use this drift in the market to accumulate the potential winners of the medium to long-term. Priority can be given to segments which are seeing good demand and order inflows. Defence stocks are fairly valued given their robust order pipeline. High quality financials are attractively valued. PSU banks are cheap.

Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a flat note today, with the GIFT Nifty indicating a marginal uptick of 19 points in the Nifty 50. Market sentiment remains cautiously optimistic; however, persistent volatility and mixed global cues continue to weigh on investor confidence.
The Nifty 50 opened on a positive note in the previous session but slipped below 24,650, closing in the red for the eighth straight day—reflecting sustained selling pressure. From a technical perspective, a sustained move above 24,800 could pave the way for a rally toward 25,000. On the downside, immediate support lies at 24,530 and 24,400, which may serve as potential entry points for long trades.
The Bank Nifty ended indecisively, forming a Doji after a volatile session. A decisive break below the key support of 54,200 could extend the downside toward 54,000 and 53,790 (200-day EMA). However, if these support levels hold, a reversal may provide fresh buying opportunities. On the upside, resistance is seen at 54,800–55,000, with a breakout above this zone likely to trigger momentum toward 55,500.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) extended their selling streak for the sixth consecutive session on September 29, offloading equities worth over Rs 2,830 crore. On the other hand, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued to provide support, buying equities worth Rs 3,845 crore on the same day.
Given the prevailing uncertainty and heightened volatility, traders are advised to maintain a cautious “wait-and-watch” stance, particularly in leveraged positions. Booking partial profits on rallies and deploying tight trailing stop-losses remain prudent. Fresh long positions should only be considered if the Nifty sustains above the 25,000 mark. While the broader outlook remains cautiously bullish, close monitoring of breakout levels and global market developments will be crucial in the sessions ahead.
