Shares of PNB Housing Finance soared over 6 percent in opening trade on August 21 after as much as 1.39 crore shares, representing a 5 percent stake in the lender were sold in a block deal, with private equity investor General Atlantic Singapore Fund being the likely seller.
While Moneycontrol could not immediately ascertain the parties involved in the transaction, CNBC-TV18 reported on August 20 that General Atlantic Singapore Fund FII Pte Ltd was planning to unload its entire 5.1 percent stake in PNB Housing Finance, aiming to raise Rs 1,032.7 crore.
At 09.20 am, shares of PNB Housing Finance were trading at Rs 861.85 on the NSE.
PNB Housing Finance has witnessed several stake sales in recent months. In July, private equity firm Carlyle Group's Quality Investment Holdings PCC sold a 13.1 percent stake in the lender for Rs 2,642 crore.
Another major chunk was sold early July when Asia Opportunities V (Mauritius) and General Atlantic Singapore Fund FII offloaded a cumulative 5.2 percent stake.
Earlier this year, Singapore-based investor Investment Opportunities V also sold its entire 9.88 percent stake in the company for Rs 2,106 crore through an open market transaction.

The non-bank finance lender has reported a healthy set of earnings for the June quarter, clocking a near 25 percent on year growth in the net profit at Rs 433 crore. The company's total disbursements grew by 19 percent to Rs 4,398 crore, while net interest income - the difference between interest earned and paid - grew by 4 percent to Rs 651 crore.
