The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE will have full trading on Saturday, February 1, on account of the Union Budget 2025 presentation, the exchanges said on Monday.
"On account of the presentation of the Union Budget, Exchange shall be conducting live trading session on February 1, 2025," said the exchanges in a circular.
It may be recalled that markets were kept open on Saturday, February 1, 2020 for Budget announcements and also on February 28 (Saturday), 2015.
"Members are requested to note that “T0” session shall not be scheduled for trading on 01-Feb-2025 due to settlement holiday," said NSE.
While equity markets will have a regular trading session until 3:30 pm, the commodity derivatives market will have a session till 5 pm.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her eighth consecutive Union Budget next year.
The Department of Economic Affairs in the finance ministry carries out the mammoth exercise of preparing the documents. The Union Budget, which is an annual exercise, shows the health of the government’s finances in terms of estimated expenditures and earnings. It is also a document that showcases new financial schemes and plans that the Centre wishes to introduce in the upcoming fiscal year.
