Adani Total Gas shares slip in trade as net profit falls 19% to Rs 142 crore

    Adani Total Gas share price slipped in trade on January 28 after the company reported a 19 percent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 142.38 crore for the third quarter of the current fiscal.

    The Adani Group company had reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 176.64 in the October-December quarter of the previous financial year. Sequentially, it was a decline of 23.28 percent from Rs 185.60 crore from the December quarter of the previous year.

    Adani Total Gas shares opened flat in Tuesday's trading session and hit the day's high of Rs 627.15 per share on the NSE, rising 1.25 percent from its previous close. Later, it pared gains to slip in red. At around 10:10 am, the shares of the company were trading at Rs 612.65 apiece, down 1.09 percent.

    The company in the December quarter results showed its revenue from operations increas 12.61 percent to Rs 1,400.88 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 1,244 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a regulatory filing.

    The government reduced cheaper gas supplies to city gas distributors like Adani Total Gas in October and November, citing lower production, but later restored them in January.

    To ensure uninterrupted supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) to end consumers, the company had to cover the shortfall with costlier purchases of natural gas, Adani Total Gas stated in a release. The cost of procuring natural gas increased 20 percent year-on-year, according to Adani Total Gas.
