Listen in: Market ends week on bullish note; Nifty up 2.5%

It was a bullish close to Indian equities on Friday, with the Nifty at 4,866 up 34.75 points from its previous close. The Sensex spiked to an intra-day high of 16,257.34, before closing up 117.11 points at 16,154.62.

The market was supported by infrastructure, metals, banks and telecom stocks, however, the fall in Reliance, HDFC and TCS limited the upside.

For the week, the Sensex gained 1.6% and the Nifty 2.5%. However, the action was really in the broader markets, with the CNX Midcap and CNX Smallcap indices were up between 6-7%.
