Underweight India amongst Asian markets: Citigroup

We reiterate our positive view on emerging markets for 2011 with our year-end target on the MSCI GEM Index at 1,500, a gain of around 30%., says Geoffrey Dennis of Citigroup.

Geoffrey Dennis, Citigroup: We reiterate our positive view on emerging markets for 2011 with our year-end target on the MSCI GEM Index at 1,500, a gain of around 30%. We retain a high-beta cyclical bias, but with a preference for domestics over global cyclicals. However, we are Underweight India amongst Asian markets.

Bharat Iyer, JPMorgan: Global and local financials markets are in stark contrast resulting in inflows into global sectors, utilities and consumer plays and outflows from financials and industrials over the past month. The shift towards global sectors, from local rate-sensitives can be attributed to improved data on global growth. Sentiment on domestic plays has been adversely affected by rising inflation and tight local liquidity.
