JSW Steel has said that its consolidated crude steel production for the third quarter of FY24 stood at 6.87 million tonnes, up 8 percent over the last quarter and 12 percent over the year, as a spurt in infrastructure projects boosted demands for the metal.
Capacity utilisation at Indian operations stood at 94 percent for the third quarter, the company said in a BSE filing on January 9. This comes amid Crisil's recent projection that steel sector in India is poised to clock its third consecutive year of double-digit growth, at 11-13 percent on-year in the current fiscal.

Shares of the company remained largely flat in the afternoon trade.
In Indian operations, crude steel production jumped 9 percent Y-o-Y to 6.63 million tonnes. Sequentially, production rose 7 percent as against 6.20 million tonnes in Q2FY24.
For the USA-Ohio operations, the steelmaker posted a 191 percent on-year increase in crude steel production at 0.24 million tonnes, on a sequential basis production rose 76 percent as against 0.14 million tonnes in Q2FY24.
The Sajjan Jindal-led steel giant reported quarterly consolidated total income of Rs 44,821 crore in the September quarter as against Rs 41,966 crore a year ago.

In the second quarter, consolidated crude steel production stood at 6.34 million ton, lower by 1 percent quarter-on-quarter and higher by 12 percent year-on-year.
