Maruti Suzuki on July 31 reported 2% rise in net profit at Rs 3,712 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. It reported a net profit of Rs 3,650 crore in the year-ago period.
The carmaker's revenue rose 8% to Rs 38,414 crore in Q1 FY26 as against Rs 35,531 crore a year ago. Non-operating income, or other income, nearly doubled.
Maruti Suzuki's June quarter results have beaten estimates as a Moneycontrol poll of seven brokerage firms pegged the WagonR maker's revenue at Rs 36,570 crore and net profit at Rs 3,181 crore.
In the June quarter, Maruti Suzuki's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) dropped 11% at Rs 3,995 crore from Rs 4,502 crore in the same quarter last year. The operating margin dropped by 227 basis points to 10.40% in Q1 FY26 from 12.67% in Q1 FY25.
Among the negative factors impacting the margins were adverse commodity prices, adverse foreign exchange movement, higher sales promotion expenses and expenses related to the new Kharkhoda greenfield plant. However, some respite was provided by cost reduction efforts and a higher non-operating income.
"In Q1, the domestic passenger vehicle industry continued to witness a sluggish demand environment. For the company, a decline in domestic sales of 4.5% was compensated by a robust 37.4% growth in exports, resulting in an overall sales volume increase of 1.1% for the quarter, year-on-year," Maruti Suzuki said in a regulatory filing.
"The company sold a total of 5,27,861 vehicles during the quarter, comprising domestic sales of 4,30,889 units and exports of 96,972 units," it added.
Maruti sells new cars via Arena and Nexa outlets. The Arena portfolio includes the Alto K10, WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Brezza and Ertiga. Among the Nexa models are the Baleno, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny, and Invicto.
The carmaker will introduce a new 5-seater SUV on September 3. To be sold from Maruti's Arena dealerships, it will be the second mid-size SUV in Maruti's current product line-up after the Grand Vitara.
This new SUV will be the maiden Maruti model to be launched in India with Level 2 ADAS. It will also get features like Dolby Atmos and a powered tailgate. A four-wheel-drive (4WD) option will be present as well.
However, the shortage of rare earth magnets hit Maruti Suzuki's production plan for e Vitara, its maiden battery electric vehicle (BEV). A global model, the e Vitara will be manufactured at the company's Gujarat plant and exported to over 100 countries.
