ICICI Bank Ltd reported a 5.2 percent year-on-year rise in standalone net profit to Rs 12,358.9 crore for the July-September quarter (Q2 FY26), compared with Rs 11,745.9 crore in the same period last year. The profit growth comfortably beat Street expectations -- a Moneycontrol poll had estimated a modest 2.3 percent rise in profit to Rs 12,024 crore.

The lender’s net interest income (NII) -- the difference between interest earned and interest expended -- stood at Rs 21,529.5 crore, up from Rs 20,048 crore a year earlier. That marks a 7.4 percent increase year-on-year, slightly above the Street’s projection of Rs 21,486 crore. ICICI Bank's Total income for the quarter rose to Rs 49,333.5 crore from Rs 47,714 crore in the year-ago period, while other income increased to Rs 7,575.5 crore from Rs 7,176.7 crore.

Asset quality improved further during the quarter. Gross non-performing assets (GNPA) declined to Rs 23,849.7 crore as of September 30, 2025, from Rs 27,121.2 crore a year earlier. The GNPA ratio eased to 1.58 percent from 1.97 percent, while the net NPA ratio stood at 0.39 percent, marginally lower than 0.42 percent in the same quarter last year. Net NPAs amounted to Rs 5,827 crore, compared with Rs 5,685 crore in Q2 FY25.

Provisions and contingencies for the quarter fell nearly 26 percent to Rs 914 crore from Rs 1,233 crore a year earlier, reflecting the bank’s stronger credit profile. The capital adequacy ratio (Basel III) improved to 15.76 percent, compared with 15.35 percent a year ago.

ICICI Bank’s return on assets (annualised) remained stable at 2.36 percent, against 2.40 percent in the previous year, while net worth rose to Rs 3,01,628 crore from Rs 2,50,418 crore a year earlier.
