Uttar Pradesh has secured Rs 9,750-crore worth of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) following back-to-back business meetings and high-level interactions with global corporates and government representatives on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Major investment commitments include Rs 8,000 crore from SAEL Industries for waste-to-energy projects, Rs 1,600 crore from Sify Technologies for setting up an AI-ready data centre and an AI City in Noida, and Rs 150 crore from Yeoman for defence manufacturing and weapons systems integration, the UP government said in a statement on January 22.

India's engagement with the United States remains "very consistent", Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said at the World Economic Forum in Davos on November 22, even as uncertainty persisted around the timing of a bilateral trade deal.

Vaishnaw was responding to US President Donald Trump's Moneycontrol on November 21, where he said that he has "a lot of respect" for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed confidence that the two countries would arrive at "a good deal".

Speaking to the publication on the sidelines of WEF, Vaishnaw said, "Our engagement with the US is very consistent. The US president has claimed that 59 countries are involved in efforts to bring peace to the Middle East, suggesting they have expressed support for his proposed Board of Peace.

On Gaza, he said: “If Hamas doesn’t do what they promised they will do – I think they probably will – but they were born with rifles in their hands.”

Trump added: “They have to give up their weapons, and if they don’t do that – it is going to be the end of them.”

He was speaking while unveiling the Gaza ‘Board of Peace’ on Thursday at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The US recently overthrew Venezuela's Maduro govt and arrested the President and his wife on charges of cross-border narcotics trade.

"No administration in history has achieved such a sweeping turnaround in 12 months, both at home and abroad. We have a tremendous mandate. We won the popular vote by millions We brought peace in the Middle East; nobody thought it was possible. Everything is better than everything before. If Hamas doesn’t give up weapons, it’s gonna be the end of them," he said while unveiling the proposed peace board for Gaza-Israel truce in Davos during the WEF on Thursday.

India has witnessed a real transformation in the last decade from an "emerging" status to a "pivotal" global economic force, driven by robust growth and widespread digital public infrastructure, according to young Indian ministers Harsh Sanghavi and K Rammohan Naidu.

Sanghavi, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, emphasised that for decades India was described as an emerging economy, but today that description no longer captures the reality.
