PepsiCo to focus on health related drinks

In order to tap into the growing segment of health conscious customers, beverage and snacks major PepsiCo on June 9 said it will have more focus in this area while launching new drinks

In order to tap into the growing segment of health conscious customers, beverage and snacks major PepsiCo on June 9 said it will have more focus in this area which launching new drinks.

"We feel hydration drink, functional drinks are a big opportunity. Health and wellness is our focus, that is where the customer is moving. Trend is towards health related drinks. We will launch more products in these segments," PepsiCo India Vice President, Beverage Category, Vipul Prakash told PTI.

He defined functional drinks as those containing vitamins and mineral.

The company on June 9 launched a new product under Mountain Dew brands - Game Fuel - targeting the gaming community.

"We have launched new product under Mountain Dew brand, 13 years after it was launched in India. Game Fuel brand is present in the US and India is the second country where it has been launched," he said.

When asked about new launches going forward this year, Prakash said: "This year was a big one for us. We launched 7UP Revive and Nimboo Masala Soda nationally. We also launched Game Fuel this year. We will establish these launches...we might have a couple towards end of this year or beginning of next year." In July, the company will also launch smaller cans for it flagship brands -- Mirinda, 7UP, Mountain Dew. At present, smaller 150 ml cans also only available for Pepsi and Diet Pepsi.

Game Fuel has been launched in 600 ML PET bottle and 250 ml can and priced at Rs 35 and 25, respectively.
