JSW Energy today said it plans to add 1,110 MW new power generation capacity in the current fiscal, which will make it produce a total of 3,140 MW by March, 2012.
"This will be achieved by commissioning of 300 MW at Ratnagiri, Maharashtra and 810 MW at Barmer in Rajasthan," company Chairman Sajjan Jindal said here, while addressing the annual general meeting of the shareholders.
He added the company plans to commence work on 1,860-MW power projects during the current fiscal, including a 1,320-MW thermal power project in Kukurda, Chhattisgarh.
Talking about company's joint venture with Toshiba for production of equipments, Jindal said "the facilities to produce supercritical steam turbine and generators are expected to start in current fiscal".
Besides this, he said mining activities in South African Coal Mining Holding, where the company has a stake of over 61%, has commenced.
Without giving any further details, Jindal said this is a move of the company towards securing its fuel requirements.
The JSW Energy Chairman, however, cautioned that issues like land acquisition, fuel availability, timely approvals and slow pace of reforms in transmission and distribution segments need to be addressed urgently by the government, to continue the momentum of the sector.
