Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting (WCCLG) today said it will tap infrastructure projects in India to strengthen its lighting business.

"In India, a lot of investment is going into infrastructural projects. We see this as an opportunity," WCCLG Vice President and Business Head (Commercial and Furniture Business) Parag Kulkarni told reporters here.

WCCLG, which is a division of leading software exporter Wipro, said the lighting and furniture segment contributes about 11-13% to the firm's revenues and expects to further enhance the share through new product launches.

The company registered sales of Rs 2,750 crore last fiscal, compared to Rs 755 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2011.

He said that at present, most of the WCCLG's revenues come from indoor lighting of corporates in various sectors like IT, banks and retail outlets, among others.

The company is now intensifying its focus on the lighting side of many infrastructure projects in India.

"We are involved in a lot of projects like city beautification, lighting of airports and ports," he said.

Recently, the company started work on lighting projects at the Delhi International Airport and Mumbai International Airport, among others.

Kulkarni, however, declined to reveal the size of the company's order-book.

Kulkarni said the size of the Indian lighting market is estimated at about Rs 1,500 crore, while the furniture market stands at around Rs 900 crore.

The company is driving innovation in the LED lighting space for both indoor and outdoor applications, Kulkarni said.

Launching its signature event, the 'Light & Furniture Show', the firm unveiled a LED-based light range and urban lighting range designed by Paris-based designer Michel Tortel, besides designer modular furniture 'We' and a chair range designed by Toronto-based designer Conrad Marini.
