Nikon India, subsidiary of the imaging industry leader Nikon Corporation, today said it intended to double its market share through increased presence in the eastern region.

"Nikon India has market share of 22% in the compact camera category and 55% in the D-SLR category in eastern India. Nikon intends to double its Sales turnover in the region particularly during the festive season through increased presence," Nikon India Managing Director Hiroshi Takashina said here.

He said the company had already strengthened its presence in India with the opening of its branch office and service centre in Kolkata today. Nikon India would also launch an exclusive outlet in Asansol.

Nikon India will also launch a pan-India marketing campaign featuring Priyanka Chopra - Nikon India's brand ambassador - targeting this festive season.

Talking about the company's distribution strategy and India plans, Takashina, said, "It is our endeavour to bring the entire range of Nikon's cameras and imaging equipment coupled with best class service to our discerning customers and connoisseurs of photography.

"We at Nikon India are not only committed towards our business, but also dedicated at promoting photography as an art in this country including Kolkata - the city of art, culture and joy - as it provides us with the best platform.

The festival season is an opportunity for all marketers as sales figures grow on account of gifting and increased consumer spends," he said.

Nikon India will also introduce various educative workshops on photography through its Nikon School initiative shortly, he added.
