Utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra has given its Xylo MPV (multi purpose vehicle) a facelift after three years, its sixth new launch this fiscal. The new Xylo, priced up to Rs 15,000 more than the outgoing model, will take on Toyota Innova, which also got a facelift last month.

The new Xylo is priced in Rs 7.37-10.25 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi and Rs 7.07-9.89 lakh ex-showroom in Thane.

The Xylo is being launched in Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh among a few other states from Wednesday. Depending on the response in these markets the company will launch it in rest of India, officials said Wednesday.

M&M has sold 90,000 units of Xylo since it was launched in Jan 2009 and it has 27% market share in the MPV segment, second behind Toyota Innova.

The new Xylo will be available in five variants, with the top-end E9 coming with the mHawk engine from the Scorpio SUV. That apart, the new Xylo has over 50 style changes and features like new front facia with redesigned headlamps, grill and bumper, pronounced wheel arches, roof rails, Italian leather upholstery and new centre console among other things.

The top-end version is cheaper by Rs 3 lakh than the Innova, and will also feature voice command technology, which will allow customers to control over 30 features in the Xylo by voice, M&M said.

The company spent under Rs 50 crore towards development of the new Xylo, said B Bhaumik, Senior VP
